Hi! My name is Maynell, and I founded The Autism Storyteller, which is my way of giving back. I offer parent coaching services and also share stories about autism. I have been featured in VoyageOhio and CanvasRebel, which are magazines that highlight the stories of successful entrepreneurs.

I’m in the United States but also spend time in Swansea Wales, UK.

My Story

After my son was diagnosed with autism back in December 2015, I began to learn everything about autism until I eventually decided to obtain my degree. I had no idea how much I loved research! The rest is history.

My mother and father have always been my inspiration. They taught me how to treat others and the value of hard work. They worked very hard and taught me the importance of love and family. My mom is an incredible mother, and her resilience is inspiring. She taught me the role of motherhood and how important it is to be present.

Inspiration

I created TAS during my junior year at my university in 2020. I started becoming interested in other people's stories and would share them with others on my Instagram to spread awareness. I took a genuine interest in how other families navigated their child's diagnosis because I learned valuable information from them. Another way I give back is by participating in yearly parades, researching important resources for families, and handing them out as infographics during the parade. It is a fun experience and I enjoy it. TAS's purpose is always evolving.

The Inception of The Autism Storyteller

After graduating Cum Laude with my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Ball State University in Munice, IN, I realized I wanted to share the knowledge I learned to help others. My research focuses on Dental Trauma, with an emphasis on the psychological effects due to many factors, such as the use of restraints. Writing my ebook and offering parent coaching are a few ways I want to help.

I am an East Texas native, independent researcher, and working on my Masters Degree at Ball State. Summer is my favorite time of year. My hobbies are relaxing, running, reading, and watching romance movies. I recently started learning Welsh and it has been the best experience so far. A few of my favorite places in Wales I like to visit is Swansea and Cardiff. I love their Welsh Cakes at the market!

Thanks! Maynell
